A Trip To Morocco with Friends

When I remember my trip to Morocco, it comes to my mind the beautiful Moroccan landscapes and the splendid architecture of the buildings. I traveled for one week tour in southern Morocco, accompanied by a great group of 6 people the tour organized by All Marrakech Tours, I have amazing memories.

We landed in Marrakech and then we reached our hotel in the late evening.

The next morning, the driver picked us up towards the city of Ouarzazate. The road through the chain of the High Atlas by the collar of Tizi-n-Tichka is long and winding but the scenery was very beautiful.

We went to the Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou. This is a fortified village listed in UNESCO, which served as a backdrop for filming of several known films such as Lawrence of Arabia, The Mummy and Prince of Persia. This is one of the places that impressed me the most during my stay in Morocco.

We took the road of the “Thousand Kasbahs”, located through the Dades Valley. Many Berber villages scattered along the hills, Ksours, Kasbah, it is the characteristic buildings of southern Morocco.

The next day we got into the desert area of Morocco. The landscape is arid and really surprising. Stray camels are sometimes crossed in a large number, I was surprised to see that the water was still recovered in a well, women washing clothes in the river and in this area people still using preserved meat.

In Tineghir one can discover beautiful palm groves. It is also the starting point for the Merzouga dunes, my fondest memory of Morocco. We went to the dark so the temperatures were relatively pleasant. The sunset was beautiful. photos of the sunset in the dunes of Merzouga are visible.

Otherwise, throughout our stay, the weather was good, typically 30°, despite the fact that we traveled during the middle of September. We had seen it would be nice and the temperatures are “normal” for the season. Many websites provide weather forecasts for Morocco and the world. There is only hope to shine time on every trip!

The next day, always under the beautiful sun of Morocco, we made a stop at the Todra Gorges. It is a natural site where the rocky cliffs are very high and close together. Some climbers ascend these walls that reach up to 300 meters high. A narrow path allows you to walk down those cliffs. A stream runs beside.

After a night under the stars in Merzouga, we took the road to Zagora. We went through the Draa Valley, where fortified villages and oases alternate. Then we spent the afternoon and night in this ancient caravan city that served as a stage to those who were heading towards Timbuktu.

The next day, we took the road to Ouarzazate: the door of the desert. This Moroccan city is located at the confluence of the Draa and Dades valleys. Tourists are numerous and the souks do not miss! It is also the city of cinema: many films are shot in Ouarzazate and the city hosts famous actors during filming. We actually found on site scenery of the film Asterix and Obelix Mission Cleopatra. It’s quite nice to see the scenery in true filmmaking but it’s disappointing to see how they are neglected.
In Ouarzazate, you can visit beautiful monuments and adobe kasbahs, notably Taourirt World Heritage by UNESCO.

We ended our trip in Marrakech, where we spent two days.
